    Abstract

"North by East" piece on Nabisco Co.'s decision to stop making Crown Pilot brand crackers, which the company had been making since 1792. The crackers were a venerable New England tradition, served with fish chowder. By last year, pilot crackers were being sold only in Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, and sales were not high enough to justify continuing the line.
