Abstract

Profile of Cindy Blodgett, 19, a University of Maine sophomore, who has lit a bonfire of public interest in women's basketball. Blodgett's basketball skills have already made her the subject of two books, and profiles in "Sports Illustrated" and "The New York Times." In her first year at the university, Blodgett led the team to a 24-6 season, tying a school record for wins. For the first time ever, the team qualified for a the NCAA national tournament.
