Abstract

"North by East" piece on campground reservations at Baxter State Park, which are made available on January 2, and are increasingly difficult to come by. Fifty or more die-hard campers last year slept out on New Year's Day in a long line near park headquarters to be in good position when the doors opened to the reservation process in the morning. Irvin "Buzz" Caverly, park superintendent, says that people come from all over to claim a spot in the park, and they are particularly keen on sites at Daicey, Kidney, and Chimney pond campgrounds.
