    Abstract

    "North by East" piece reporting on the closing of Boynton-McKay Drug Store in Camden, one of Maine's last old-time soda fountains. Owner Sam Jones blamed the store's demise on the steady loss of Camden's traditional downtown businesses, and competition from chain stores such as WalMart. An anchor on upper Main Street since 1893, the shop had served generations of residents and visitors.
