    Abstract

Brief description of winter at Gulf Hagas, a three-mile-long canyon deep in the woods south of Greenville. Only a few thousand hike the three miles in to visit in the summer, and only a handful, if any, lay eyes on it in the winter. In March, the watercourse whose cascades define Gulf Hagas is locked by ice in many places.
