Abstract
"Talk of Maine" piece about about the exploding interest in YMCA's in Maine. Of the seventeen YMCAs in Maine, at least a dozen have new buildings or major renovations on the drawing boards or under construction or newly completed. The new projects total somewhere between $40 million and $50 million, according to YMCA senior field officer David Long, not counting Camden, which is just getting started on a capital funds campaign. Includes profiles of Dave Thompson's Casco Bay Regional YMCA in Freeport, Ken Walsh's Harold and Libby Alfond Youth Recreation Center in Waterville, and Dave Cross's Waldo County YMCA.
