Abstract
"Along the Waterfront" piece on a reenactment of Leif Eriksson's 1,900-mile voyage of discovery from Greenland to Newfoundland, which is scheduled for this summer. Hodding Carter IV, who plans to write a book based on the expedition, and eight others will sail in a fifty-four-foot knarr that is being built in the Hermit Island boatshop of Rob Stevens. In addition to its 1,000-square-foot square sail, the knarr will have only six giant oars to fall back on.
