Abstract

"What's in a Picture?" piece on a Tom Thumb wedding staged in Sanford on April 24, 1912. After Tom Thumb, a midget made famous by P.T. Barnum, married another midget, copycat ceremonies using children became popular everywhere. This particular event, with a cast of 32 children, was staged as a fund-raiser.
