Abstract

"North by East" piece on the purchase by Robert Moore of Kingfield, in a state tax sale, of the six-mile dirt road connecting Moxie and Indian Ponds. The road accesses the Harris Station hydroelectric station, and FPL Energy, which operates the station, says canoeists and kayakers will still be allowed access to the Kennebec River via an easement it owns on the road. Whitewater enthusiasts say the state should have kept the property.
