Abstract

Vacation activities in Maine are grouped humorously under the categories of the seven deadly sins. Under "sloth" are listed popular beaches, including nude beaches (Lake Wood in Hull's Cove and Frenchmen's Hole in Newry). Under "pride" are listed outstanding natural features, from Baxter Peak on Mount Katahdin to Route 201 in Jackman. Waterside lobster shacks are grouped under "gluttony," and fine resorts and inns under "lust." "Greed" is the heading for budget-priced shopping venues, and "anger" for a list of stress-relieving public and private golf courses. Under "envy" are listed neighborhoods of fine old homes, from the seaside estates of Bar Harbor to the graceful houses of Belfast.
