Abstract

"Down East Bookshelf" piece on Trevor Corson's "The Secret Life of Lobsters," and Maine native Colin Woodward's "The Lobster Coast." Woodward views the threat to the lobstermen's way of life against the historical precedent set by colonization, beginning with that of Native Americans. Corson switches back and forth between the lives of lobsters and lobstermen, with humorous effect.
