Abstract

"Getting It Right" piece on designer Carol Bass, 56, of Yarmouth, has written two books on Maine style (a third is due out soon) and has developed the successful Maine Cottage Furniture line. She moved from the South and takes her palette from the colors of the Maine landscape. She says the childlike playfulness that people would unhesitatingly express in a cottage or a camp is the secret to creating a living space with a Maine spirit.
