Abstract

"North by East" piece on how wet conditions this spring might increase Maine's population of black flies and mosquitoes. Maine has more than 45 mosquito species because of its wide range of weather and geography. Each species has its peak time, and some species flourish in the conditions that might stymie the development of others.
