Abstract
Profile of Dennis and Martha "Marty" Gleason, owners of Gleason Fine Art in Boothbay, a first-rate gallery where good works by contemporary Maine artists still sell to ordinary Mainers. Having once been art-world neophytes themselves, they put visitors at ease, offer payment plans, and are willing to be flexible on prices. Richard Wright of Falmouth Foreside, an electrician and stagehand at Cumberland County Civic Center, collects art on a workingman's paycheck, and acknowledges his debt to the Gleasons. John Day, a Cumberland high school teacher, says the Gleasons have aided his search for lost treasures of Monhegan art. With advice on art collecting.
