    Abstract

"North by East" piece on the state's first commercial lobster hatchery in Stonington. The design is based on a method developed by Dr. Brian Beal of the University of Maine at Machias that increased survival rate for young lobsters from 5 to 7 percent to 60 to 70 percent. Lobstermen of fishing Zone C are financing the hatchery with a matching grant. They plan to stock up to 150,000 young lobsters along the coast. Details.
