Abstract
"Down East Bookshelf" piece with an e-mail interview with Irish novelist John Connolly, whose mysteries, tinged with horror and the supernatural, feature Scarborough-based detective, Charlie Parker. He describes how Maine and its history appeal to him as a writer, how he frequently revisits Maine to check his facts and enjoy the state, and how he tries to accurately portray details of place in his novels, the latest of which is entitled "Black Angel."
