Abstract

"North by East" piece on a survey taken of Route 1 traffic in midcoast Maine that showed local drivers comprise 70 to 85 percent of travelers, even during the height of the tourist season. The survey was done for the Gateway 1 project, a Maine Department of Transportation program working on solutions to the coastal arterial's problems.
