Abstract

"North by East" piece on Harpswell's "Causeway Lady," Elsa Martz, who spearheaded a project to raise $225,000 in cash and services to replace the causeway linking Cundy's Harbor and Dingley Island with a bridge that would allow the tides to flow through. As she predicted, shellfish populations soared in the flats south of the bridge after it was built in 2003.
