Abstract

Portland architect Stephen Blatt and contractor Damon Builders of Mechanic Falls tore down a ranch-style house on Long Lake in Bridgton to build a "hip" lake camp for a snowbird couple, Fred and Cathy Seligman. The retreat incorporates elements of Dutch Colonial, Adirondack, and North Woods architecture and takes full advantage of the lake views. In order to maintain the home's footprint, Blatt chose to excavate a foundation to allow a full bathroom, bedroom, and sitting area in the lower level.
