Abstract

Dr. Elsie Freeman created a Boothbay garden with her late husband Dr. Jonathan Freeman that takes some of its influence from English and Japanese gardens and the Thuya Garden in Northeast Harbor. She blends classic Maine perennials with modern varieties and native plants. She calls her property Frogs Leap and says it helped her heal after her husband died in 2000.
