Abstract
"The Talk of Maine" piece on how coyotes, beavers, deer, raccoons, moose, fisher cats, and bears are being seen more frequently in Maine's cities and suburbs. On a single night in June 2004, the Maine Turnpike recorded separate moose-car collisions in Biddeford, Saco, Falmouth, and Cumberland. The rise in the population of smaller wildlife draws predator species. David Sparks of Windham, who gives public programs on wildlife, says people often don't recognize common creatures.
