Abstract

Author Elizabeth Peavey travels to Old Orchard Beach during a hot summer weekend to stay at the KebeK 3 motel and investigate whether the honky-tonk town has been unduly sanitized by recent development. She talks to motel owners Suzanne Beaulieu and her husband Marc Bourassa, a former city councilor who is in favor of the changes, and takes in the amusements and spectacle of the popular Pier and beach. Her conclusion is that the town's attractions still provide plenty of fun for visitors.
