Abstract

"Inside Maine" dining piece on Vignola restaurant in Portland, a more casual sibling of the upscale Cinque Terre next door. Both are owned by Dan Kary, Michelle Mazur-Kary, and chef Lee Skawinski, who try to use as many locally grown foods as possible. Vignola serves until midnight every night. With brief notes on Cafe Miranda in Rockland, run by Kerry Altiero and Evelyn Donnelly; the closing of Sophia's, owned by Stephen Lanzalotta; and the rebranding of Restaurant Oolong, which has become Portland's Restaurant and Bar under Oolong founder Paul Russell.
