Abstract

"North by East" piece on Trap Day on Monhegan Island, which is usually on Dec. 1 and kicks off Maine's only winter-only lobster season. This year, in exchange for a season that starts on Oct. 1, islanders have agreed to cut the number of traps in half, to just 300.
