    Abstract

    "North by East" piece on a painting rescued from a Maryland church's trash pile, called "View of Mount Katahdin from the West Bank of the Penobscot River," painted in 1870 by Dixfield native Virgil Macey Williams. Recently an anonymous purchaser paid $90,000 for the painting, and has indicated it will be donated to the Colby College Museum in Waterville.
