    Abstract

    "North by East" piece on Professor Habib Dagher and a crew at the Advanced Engineered Wood Composites Center at the University of Maine at Orono, who have created a wood-composite panel system that can be assembled inside a military tent to protect soldiers from fragments during a mortar attack. The panels recently won a "Best of the Best" award from the American Composite Manufacturers Association.
