Abstract

Margaret Hathaway, author of "The Year of the Goat," says Maine has much to offer a budding goat farmer. There is plentiful browse, an established cheese community that is still growing, and a demand for chevon, or goat meat, fueled by the Somali community. Thyme for Goat, a recently formed conglomeration of five Maine farms, produces humanely raised meat.
