Abstract
"What's in a Picture?" piece on the USS Constitution, also known as "Old Ironsides." Before being restored in 1931 and opened to the public in Boston, the ship was moored at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery and turned into a floating barracks. The 1897 photo shows the spar deck covered over by a two-story barn that housed officers and a dormitory.
