Abstract

A special section on fishing in the historic Rangeley Lakes region, with articles on the 1853-era Lakewood Camps on Lower Richardson Lake; milliner Carrie Stevens of Readfield, who famously created the Gray Ghost streamer fly in the 1920s; Rangeley's blueback trout, a subspecies of arctic char that was fished to extinction; and how the waters of Rapid River have become a battlefield between native wild brook trout and invasive smallmouth bass.
