Abstract

Roger Doiron turned his Scarborough lawn into a vegetable garden and founded the ten thousand-strong Kitchen Gardeners International, using the Internet and social networking to get people excited about the importance of gardening. As part of his Eat the View campaign, he put small parcels of the White House grounds up "for sale" on eBay in an effort to persuade the next president to convert part of the land into an organic vegetable garden.
