Abstract

Profile of Leo Brooks, whose art career started at age 60 and ended with his death at age 84. A native of New York City, he discovered Monhegan Island after retirement and threw himself into the creation of boldly colored and naive watercolors, which sold well. He was estranged from his family and had a volatile personality, but contributed generously to Planned Parenthood. He took his own life on May 10, 1993.
