Abstract

The eight-person Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit in Vassalboro has solved cases far beyond the state line and earned national acclaim for cracking a particularly notorious Internet child pornography case known as the Tara Series. Analyst Dawn Ego was able to track a type of bedding fabric to an inn in Georgia, which led to the FBI's arrest of the perpetrator. The hand-picked unit seeks out cases that others would turn away and is highly committed to identifying victims of child pornography.
