Abstract

An article on Maine Dental Health Out-Reach Inc., created by Susanne LaVallee of Winthrop, who with a team of hygienists brings dental care to children from low-income families in places not well-served by dental professionals. Their team is called the Tooth Angels. During the 2008-2009 school year, they provided about $30,000 in procedures not covered by the state. In the 2009-2010 school year, repeat students had an 81 percent decrease in new cavities compared to first-time students.
