Abstract
"What's in a Picture?" piece on a 1918 deep freeze that iced in a 110-foot "subchasher" patrol boat in Camden. The winter was one of the coldest on record, and when it came time to launch the ship in February, Penobscot Bay "was frozen as far as the eye could see," with up two eight inches of ice in Camden Harbor.
