Abstract
Reflections on Evergreen Cemetery, a "garden cemetery" established in 1854 in Portland's Deering Center neighborhood. The original plan of the cemetery was created by Charles H. Howe in 1855 and the cemetery was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1992. Some well-known Mainers buried in the cemetery include John Calvin Stevens, William Pitt Fessenden, and Thomas Brackett Reed.
