Abstract
Fred and Hope Angier have built a house in Hope where everything appears old. The Angiers are decorative painters who learned their craft from Fred's mother, Elizabeth Chase Angier, who had learned from Portland native, Esther Stevens Brazer (1898-1945).When the taste for early American decor waned in the early part of the 20th century, they decided to build a modern home that would showcase their design work in the form of murals and floor painting.. Stephen Florimbi, an artist-boatbuilder from Rockport, oversaw the construction.
