Abstract

“Talk of Maine” piece about the movement to legalize the recreational use of marijuana in Maine. Reaction to state representative Diane Russell’s bill in favor of legalization has been largely positive, with proponents pointing to a positive experience when Maine legalized medical marijuana. Opponents worry about the exposure of young people to the drug, if legalized, but Russell and others point out that legalization, which would require licensing of sellers, would actually make it harder for teens to buy.
