Abstract

Review of an exhibit at the Portland Museum of Art of the photographs of David Brooks Stess. Stess spent more than twenty years photographing the blueberry harvests in Washington County, imbuing his subjects – the workers and the landscape – with a quality that reminds the reviewer of a Thomas Hardy novel.
