Abstract

“Making It In Maine” piece on Fred Bowers, a farrier whose clients are show horses that get their shoes changed about every six weeks. Bower, whose background includes working as an EMT and as a banker, emphasizes not just technical prowess, but also the importance of earning the horse’s trust and treating the animals kindly and fairly.
