Abstract
Profile of Jack Mountain Bushcraft School in Aroostook County. “Bushcraft” is a term that encompasses a range of outdoor skills. Tim Smith founded his field school in 2008. In 2012, the school was approved to accept military benefits from recent veterans, and last year, nine of the 11 students were freshly discharged vets. Several of the vets discuss their experiences at the camp and how it helped with their return to civilian life, although Smith cautions that Jack Mountain is not about wilderness therapy, but about re-embracing primitive knowledge.
