Abstract
“Making it in Maine” piece about Elves and Angels, a toy company that David and Susan Smalley began in 1988. They make wooden dollhouses, play kitchens, and castles that are meant to last a lifetime and to be an alternative to our disposable society. The company has recently begun to ship products in the smallest and flattest possible containers in order to reduce the impact of the shipping process on the environment.
