Abstract

After abruptly losing two-thirds its funding from the Libra Foundation in 2014, the Maine Winter Sports Center galvanized its staff to fundraise the needed $550,000 in eight weeks. They succeeded in raising almost $900,000 which allowed to reorganize to not only mentor athletes that go on to compete in the Olympics and host World Cup events, but to support community development programs that encourages outdoor recreation activities for children.
