Abstract

The author describes her home and the surrounding land on which grow 200-year old Cole’s Quince apple trees. At one time it was a prosperous farm, but now only 40 acres remain. The author reflects that perhaps the reason the farmer’s descendants have not sold the remaining property is because of the memories they have of growing up there, and that the teenage daughter who had disappeared from there might yet return.
