Abstract

Two thousand sixteen marks the 200th anniversary of, what was described at the time to be "The year without a summer," in 1816. It followed the 1815 eruption of Indonesia's Mount Tambora. A text box citing weather facts, crops affected and the number of people that emigrated to warmer climates is included, as well as a text box discussing whether current weather trends.
