Abstract
This guide consists of listings (of equipment, of common birds, of birding festivals), and interviews with various Mainers on how they got into birding. There is a also a piece about the black hawk that showed up in Southern Maine last winter, an account of the biggest day in Maine birding history, and a brief look at the unfinished magnum opus of Peter Vickery -- an exhaustive update to "Maine Birds" by Ralph Palmer. After Vickery's death, friends came together to complete the book.
