Abstract

An article about retired barber Ray Fecteau's love for pétanque, a French lawn game similar to bocce, and his crusade to bring the game to his home town of Augusta. Describes his introduction to the game in France in 2009, his subsequent efforts to have a pétanque court built in Mill Park, and his ongoing promotion of the game and the Mill Park Pétanque Club. The article also briefly references the historically Franco-American neighborhood where Mill Park stands. A small inset titled "French Connection" lists three places in Maine to play pétanque.
