Abstract

An essay by New York state resident Gup reflecting on his lifelong habit of spending summers in Maine. A description of the pleasures of boating on Jacob Buck Pond is bookended by a description of the author's "normal" life during the coronavirus pandemic, and his fears that he, as someone "from away" would not be welcome in his adopted summer community during the crisis.
