Abstract

Relates the author's experiences dining out in Portland's Old Port on streets closed to traffic to allow for outdoor seating during the coronavirus pandemic. Describes food eaten at Eaux, Via Vecchia, and Gross Confection. Intersperses these descriptions with reflections on being out in the city during a pandemic - attitudes and behaviors of other people, Old Port architecture, the post-pandemic future of open-air dining, etc.
