Abstract

Article about the liquidation of Point Lookout, the Northport corporate retreat compound built by MBNA executive Charles Cawley. Briefly describes Cawley's rise in Maine, from the first call center he opened in Camden to his later philanthropic endeavors, political hobnobbing, and extravagant gestures. Also discusses the energizing effect Cawley and his company had on the Midcoast region. Describes Point Lookout, its existence after the demise of MBNA and Cawley's death, and a recent auction to dispose of its structures and furnishings.
