Abstract

An article about the future of local (or "mom-and-pop") ski mountains in Maine. Discusses the history of non-resort based mountains such as Powderhouse Hill and Camden Snow Bowl, and their prospects for the future. Delves into the ways small mountain operations have responded to the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the threat posed to them by climate change - a particular concern due to the expense and labor inherent in artificial snow-making.
